The Trinity of the Godhead
There isn't anyone who claims to fully understand the Trinity, yet the existence
of the Trinity is never questioned in true Fundamental Christian circles. It is one
of those things that we see taught in the Bible and that we accept by faith.
Hebrews 11:3 states the same thing about the creation,
there isn't any hard fast evidence that God created the world except that he said
He did. At the same time there isn't any to say He didn't.
We find in Genesis 1 the presence of God the Father (In the beginning God
created the heaven and the earth.), and the Spirit ("And the Spirit of God moved
upon the face of the waters."). We are also told in John 1 that Jesus, the Word,
was there (All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made
that was made.) We find at the baptism of Christ that the Father spoke and the
Spirit descended. In 1 Corinthians 12 we see the
Trinity having different functions ("Now there are diversities of gifts, but the
same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all
in all."), yet we know they are one, for Christ stated in John
17 ("That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they
also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And
the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even
as we are one:")
We see in scripture this taught, that the Spirit points to Christ; He draws us to
and teaches us of Christ. Also we see that Christ points to the Father; He is the
only way to the Father. Yet as they promote another they
promote themselves.
We see the Trinity in existence in scripture, we see the diversity of duties in
scripture, we see unity of the Trinity in scripture, but the how is beyond our
earthly comprehension. We accept the Trinity by faith, knowing it is truth.
The Trinity of Man
Man was made in the image of God, part of that includes being formed as a
trinity. The trinity of man is different from God's, in that God is Spirit and man is
one-third spirit.
When Adam sinned he died; physically man began toward death, spiritually man
died being separated from God. Within man was left a God shaped void that
beckons man to search for the creator, this is the spirit. The spirit of man is the
dwelling place of the Holy Spirit in the saved man, but remains dead in the lost.
The spirit is quickened or made alive by the shed blood of Christ, returning man
to fellowship with God.
The soul is the real man, or the inner man, with thoughts and emotions. The
spirit and the flesh pull the soul in two directions, thus it becomes very important
as to what we feed the soul whether the things of the flesh,
the flesh gains control, or the things of the spirit, giving the spirit control.
The flesh is mans connection to this physical world. It craves the world's
products, pleasures, and principles. It is the flesh that the devil appeals to, trying
to overthrow the work of Christ. Romans 8:23 tells us that the flesh is not
redeemed ("And not only they, but ourselves also, which have
the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for
the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body."
The Unholy Trinity
In the book of Revelation, we are told of a third trinity. This is the counterfeit
trinity of Satan. This trinity consist of the Dragon, replacing the Father, the
Antichrist, replacing the Son, and the False Prophet,
replacing the Holy Spirit.
Everything God has presented to man Satan counterfeits or perverts to try and
defeat God and His plan for man. The sad part is that when that time comes
there will be people following the Antichrist, even as through the
ages men have followed little antichrist to there own destruction and damnation.
Man is blind to Satan's attacks without the Holy Spirit to reveal the truth within
him. When man races down the highway of death to
self-destruction, how do we expect them to change, if we haven't given them
knowledge of Christ?
Satan has blinded man...turn on the Light!
